To the Beach!

Belize City, Belize

Our traveling family said our goodbyes to Lucy and the girls and made our way to Belize City to return the cars and get on a water taxi to take us to Ambergris Caye. The 'don't count me out' Renault had its hardest time yet leaving the jungle because it was fully loaded with luggage, but with a bit of momentum we made it out of there. The drive to return the car went smoothly and before we knew it we were in a hot and sweaty line at the San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi. The boat was packed, but we got good enough seats and even though it was 90 minutes to San Pedro, it seemed to go by fairly quick for me. Members in our party that are prone to sea sickness fortunately didn't have any problems. The system they have for getting luggage after the water taxi is a bit stressful, but what really stressed us out was trying to find the person who was supposed to take us to our beach house. Jenna had originally found this tall guy with long hair named Armondo who said he was there to take us, but we had this weird situation where he was just kind of hanging around our group, but talking to other people and not communication what was going on with us. I got a bit frustrated and called the company that manages the beach house and they said "oh yeah, look for a tall guy with long hair. His name is Armondo." While on the phone I walked up to him and confirmed he was Armondo and he was taking us and he said he was and he thought we were waiting for more people. That cleared up we walked over to his beat up minivan which wouldn't fit all eight of us (they knew there would be eight adults with luggage) so he called another car. Some of our party wanted to stop at a grocery store and some of us wanted to go straight to the house to unpack and get settled and there was some discussion with which luggage would go with which car and Armondo was making it more difficult than it needed to be by a large margin. Soon after we were at the house, but we had another problem. We had rented three golf carts and they were supposed to be at the house waiting for us, but they were not. I called and they said there was an issue with the golf cart company and they didn't have any carts for us at the moment. I started dealing with that and while calling several golf cart rental companies I found they were all sold out. One guy even said his neighbor may be interested in renting his cart out and he would ask him if I wanted. Fortunately, the original golf cart company stopped by our house with two golf carts and promised to get us a third the following day. Us 'youths' hit the road with our carts and ended the day munching away on three large pizzas.
