Lazy in Akureyri

Akureyri, Iceland - Day 9

Katie and I started our day out at a cute cafe where we had coffee and a viking breakfast. We then set ourselves to our chore of the day, laundry. Right down the hill from our AirBnB was a place called 'Akureyri Backpackers' which was a popular bar and restaurant...and hostel....and launderette. One stop shop! As our laundry went through the paces, we shared a couple pints of cider, apple for Katie and blueberry for me. For lunch we got a couple hotdogs since they are so popular in Iceland. They were alright. All the options on the menu were packed with sauces or extras for flavor, but their wasn't much flavor in the meat itself. That afternoon we wandered around city center and explored the shops. When dinner came along, we went to a place called 'Rub 23' and got a five course sushi tasting meal called 'Sushi Extreme!' Katie and I got to taste six different types of rolls, salmon sashimi, arctic cod and tuna nigiri, and a sushi pizza which was fried seaweed with sauces on top. It was all amazingly delicious, or as Merry Berry would say, "Totally scrummy!"
