Horses, Puffins, and Northern Lights

Vik, Iceland - Day 3

The day started with a couple hour drive down to Vik which is a small village nestled by the sea to the south, with the Mýrdalsjökull glacier towering above from the north. Katie and I road Icelandic horses on the picturesque black sand beach before laughing at some puffins near the basalt sea stack caves of Reynisdrangar. How do they even fly?! We popped over to Dyrhólaey for a view of a large volcanic arch and some more adorable puffins. On our way back to our cabin we took stopped to explore a plane crash. Exhausted after a long day, we made it back to the cabin, but an alarm woke us up in the middle of the night. We have been keeping Katie's phone next to the bed while we sleep so that it can alert us of the possibility to see the northern lights. Last night, it went off and we laid on the deck under the stars and watched the aurora borealis!
