Hitting the Road

Kansas - Day 1

At nearly 3pm I decided to pack up at work and finish up at home. This would allow me to do a few small things while on the clock, but more importantly it would mean I was already home at 5pm when I clock out. Not long after setting up at home, Katie surprises me by getting off work early herself! Katie got to work getting ready while I finished up work. After 5pm rolled around, I mowed the lawn, ran a few errands, and packed the car. We originally planned on doing the sixteen-hour drive all in one sitting on June 18th, but decided leaving tonight and getting some miles behind us would make tomorrows drive easier. We left at about 8pm and headed towards the Tetons! We decided the route we would take there would go north and through Nebraska. At about three hours into our drive we started looking for a hotel. We found one that wasn’t too out of the way in Lincoln, but it turned out to be fully booked. Our hotel search then expanded to York where we found a decently priced Days Inn to stay at. It was nearly midnight when we checked in and we went straight to sleep.
