Traveling to Cancun

Kansas - Day 1

 

My company met our 2014 stretch goals and our reward is a three night all inclusive resort vacation! This year we are going to Paradisus resort in Cancun. They offer discounted excursions, but Katie and I opted to just have a nice relaxing weekend.This morning Katie and I got all packed and headed out the door. My company chartered a flight from Topeka to Cancun, flying out of Forbes Airfield at about 9am. Apparently the booze starts to get passed around as soon as the flight is in the air...so wish us luck!We made it to Cancun! Arriving at Forbes airfield at about 7:15 made us the first ones there. We ate some breakfast burritos and went through "airport security." After the plane took off, it was a relatively quick three hour flight to Cancun. They served alcohol immediately on the flight, so it was kind of noisy. We got flagged at customs because our floral luggage was just too awesome. Afterwards, we hopped on a bus and made our fifteen minute drive to the resort. We checked in at about 1:50pm....but our room was not ready. We are currently killing time until 3pm when we should be able to get in. Can't do much since they have our bags and our suntan lotion was in there, but we did go get a sample of the food available. It is hot, but the water is really blue and the beach looks really nice.
