Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe - Day 8

Today we enjoyed the falls two ways, the first via helicopter and the second on foot. Katie and I had wanted to do a helicopter tour of the falls, but hadn't booked anything. On our way to lunch, we were caught by a rep from one of the helicopter tour companies and given a pamphlet with information about the tours. During lunch we looked them up and since they had great reviews, we decided to do it. Not long after that we were out at the helipad boarding a helicopter. Neither of us had ever ridden in a helicopter and I was under the impression that it was going to be a bit scary, but it was smooth. Probably because Katie somehow managed to become the co-pilot. We circled the falls a few times and then made a wide loop back to the helipad. On the way back we saw a handful of giraffe munching away on some trees.

Katie and I followed the helicopter tour by walking through the park and seeing the falls on foot. This included getting completely drenched by the falls depending on the lookout point and the directions of the wind. (We were thanking our lucky stars that we had remembered our rain jackets at this point). After and enjoyable couple of hours of taking the the falls in all their glory, we started heading back to our lodge.
