Exploring Cusco

Cusco, Peru - Day 15

Trying to take full advantage of our only full day in Cusco (Fun fact: It was the capital of the Inca's), Katie and I hit the streets to explore the streets and shops around Plaza Mayor de Cusco. This part of Cusco is beautiful and near perfect. It feels totally safe, has amazing architecture, there are several great restaurants, and tons of shops. The only thing that I didn't really like is that to fight for your business, most places in the plaza have someone standing outside that will hound you. Walk 15 steps and you will have three restaurant menus shoved in your face, two guys stepping in front of you saying "you interested in a tour?", five ladies offering massages, and an "artist" wanting to show you his portfolio. In a round about way, it actually helped us easily find the better restaurants...because we would only go to the ones that didn't have peddlers standing outside with menus. Following this rule, we had a seriously delicious lunch at Inka Grill. Our table was on the balcony and we dinned overlooking the plaza. Katie had Andean Stew and I had Costillar Frito (Shredded Beef Rib).

Overall, Katie and I had a really relaxing, enjoyable day exploring Cusco.
