Ring Road

Southern Iceland - Day 5

Katie and I said goodbye to our cabin Bj'alki and headed East on our longest travel day of the trip. Iceland's highway 1 is a singular paved, two lane motorway that circles around the island and is called the Ring Road. First couple sites we pulled off to see were Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Both were unique and beautiful with Seljalandsfoss allowing you to walk behind the fall and Skógafoss' rainbows and 419 steps to view from the top of the fall (we counted). Onward and eastward from there, we stopped at Fjaðrárgljúfur to view a breathtaking canyon as well as Jökulsárlón to get a majestic view of Ice-burgs and the largest glacier in Iceland, Vatnajökull.
