Arrival In Iceland
Reykjanesskagi, Iceland - Day 1

Badda-bing, badda-boom. Before Katie and I knew it, we were in Iceland! Our travels were as smooth as one could ever hope for with Bill and Annette's lovely company to the airport, both flights leaving on time and arriving ahead of schedule, and no issues with luggage what-so-ever. We were even able to sleep on the plane, though it was really equivalent to a three or four hour nap in the middle of a 43 hour day. Soon enough, we had picked up our wheels and were on our way to Sigurjónsbakarí - a bakery in Keflavic - where we had a scrumptious breakfast and coffee. After which, we hit the road in our 4x4 manual Dacia Duster (It's a Dacia!) to explore Reykjanesskagi peninsula. I couldn't help to think my dad would love driving in Iceland as it's one part two-lane winding highways and ten parts f-roads (jeep trails). The first pull off we visited was Sandvik, a beautiful black sand beach. We also stopped by the continental bridge, a foot bridge between the always separating (at approximately 2cm a year) North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and the Krisuvikurberg cliffs before grabbing lunch and supplies in Selfoss. Katie and I ended our day at our AirBnB cabin, which is not in a town...or on google maps...or has an "address"...but is best found with old fashioned "turn right at the fork" spoken word directions or latitude/longitude coordinates.
