New Years In Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand - Day 13

MBK is the shopping center of all shopping centers. It has eight floors and over 2,000 stores. It was not too far from our hotel so we walked there and looked around. For lunch we stopped at a pizza place, The Pizza. We ordered a large (as a medium was 8in pie and small was a cute 4in) and then got worried that we were going to look like typical Americans with a ton of food. Well, they messed up our pizza so they remade it and brought two large pizzas out to our table. Oh well, pizza was actually pretty good. After our walk home (with a large pizza box) we got ready for our hotel's New Years party. As we got off the elevator to the 17th floor, we entered a small room with two suited fellows. Thinking we were at the wrong place, we spun on our heals to flee back into the elevator. That was when one of the suited fellows opened a previously well hidden door and the party area behind came into view. There were clowns, magicians, funny hats, and creepy circus music. Sure we were about to be murdered, we entered the party for the free dinner.

Soon we dinned and then dashed to get to the real New Years party. We took the metro and then the Sky Train to the Octave Rooftop lounge bar on top of a Marriott hotel. There we met up with Desiree, Kanin, and their families, had some champagne, and counted down to the new year. We got to watch fireworks explode all over the Bangkok skyline. It was a pretty spectacular night.
