Bangkok, Thailand - Day 11

Today we learned the really sad news that Katie's Grandpa Will had passed away. We are about as far away from home as we can get, and an event of this magnitude makes us feel even farther away and disconnected. You can never plan for something like this, and it is so hard to be so far away. We are thinking of all of you and Will and sending all our love your way.

We packed our bags, said a last goodbye (we are really going to miss our Chiang Mai home), and headed to the airport for the next leg of our journey. We had some bad turbulence on our decent, but otherwise a decent, quick flight. We took an almost equally long taxi ride to our Bangkok hotel, Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Driving through Bangkok kind of intimidated us a bit (picture of my first impression to Bangkok below). We got upgraded to a 'junior suite' on the 58th floor. Elevators here go so high and so fast your ears pop going up. The view is pretty amazing. For the rest of the day we just relaxed and settled in.
