Loch Ness

Strathpeffer, Scotland - Day 10

The Isle of Skye is expensive. The hotel we stayed in was...not the best. We ate their breakfast and hit the road. We ate lunch in a small cafe and actually had a meal with no fried food! We are getting rather tired of fried fish or chicken and chunky chips. I had a baked potato and Katie had a sandwich and soup. After we stopped in Fort Augustus, a nice town at the western tip of Loch Ness. There we watched some glass blowing, learned how much the Scottish hate the Irish, and watched as some boats went through a few locks. Loch Oich, where the boats were coming from sits about 7 meters higher than Loch Ness. Boats go through 5 locks where each one lowers the waters a little over a meter. After watching the boats, we made our way to Strathpeffer to stay in a manor originally built in the 1800's.
