Traveling to Africa

Kigali, Rwanda - Day 1

Katie and I left on another adventure today. The travel day was relatively smooth even though all of our lay overs ended up being very short. The first one because our first flight was delayed and the second our whole time was spent running to the terminal on the fair end of the airport. Our second 8+ hour flight was on a partner airline to United, who we bought the tickets from and we couldn't pick seats. The seats we were given were on different rows, but a stroke of luck put us next to another split party and we switched seats so we could sit together. One bit of bad luck is that my drone is in drone jail. Rwanda has become strict on letting tourists bring drones into the country and mine was confiscated at the airport. It will be waiting for me to pick up when we fly out of Rwanda.

First Impressions:

It was about 8 PM when we made it out of the airport so we didn't get to see much, but so far everyone we have talked to has been very friendly and welcoming. Even the guys at security/drone jail were very nice about it and offered to deliver the drone to us after we got approved (but we leave Kigali tomorrow, so it didn't work out). The traffic was on the wilder side (no where near as crazy as La Paz) and kind of reminded me a bit of Thailand. Lots of bikes zipping around and everyone just trying to make the best of the heavy traffic.

Milestones:

  • 16th Country we have been to

  • 6th Continent we have been to
