Great Blue Hole

Caribbean Sea, Belize

Katie and I had originally planned on this day being a free day, but on a whim we decided to join Douglas and Jenna on taking a flight over the Great Blue Hole. The hole was created when a sink hole formed under the sea floor, creating a near perfect circular shape and a hole 124 meters deep. It is located about 70 KM from the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea and we reached it by a 10 seater, propeller plane. Definitely the smallest plane I have ever flown on. There were actually 11 passengers...because someone got to sit in the co-pilots seat. In what was most likely the worst bit of bad luck on the whole trip, Douglas' phone decided to update and paused half way through as we were outside of cellular service and it could not download what was needed to complete the process. He couldn't use his phone to take pictures the whole time we were flying around the Blue Hole.Katie and I finished the day off with a strawberry milkshake at Truck Stop watching a cover band.
