Lost In Lima

Lima, Peru - Day 20

Sleep > Wakey Wakey > Taxi > Cusco Airport > Flying > Lima Airport > Uber

The above morning routine went fairly smoothly. After which, Katie and I found ourselves in Lima, in an Uber, making our way towards the Barranco neighborhood. Our AirBnB host had previously given me a tip that when I get in a taxi I needed to clarify that the street was "Av. El Sol Oesti" and not "Av. El Sol Esti". Uber has you type in the address that you want to go so I figured that would be clarification enough (Hint: it was not!). Not knowing what the area should look like and because our Uber driver pulled over and pointed to a building Katie, myself, and all of our bags exited the car and watched it leave as we started to piece together that maybe this wasn't the right place. A retrospectively kind lady caught us and tried very hard to communicate to us that we should move out of the neighborhood. She kept trying to shoo us away from where we were standing (and unbeknownst toward where we were actually supposed to be). Of course, not speaking Spanish and not knowing what the hell was going on, this spooked us a bit and we promptly ran away, all luggage in tow. Fortunately, I was able to get in contact with our AirBnB host and found out that we were just a couple of blocks away. Trying to pretend we weren't as sweaty as we were from running out of that other neighborhood...we greeted our host and she checked us into the apartment. It was everything we could hope for: comfortable, stylish, three bathrooms (Muchos baños!), and the AC had it nice and cool. This became the perfect place to unwind, relax, and properly bring a trip like this to a close. Other than for food, we didn't leave the apartment for the rest of the day and opted to read a bit, catch up on the blog, and RELAX.
