Tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico - Day 3

Our plan for today was a lot more relaxed than yesterday. No alarms, no fuss. We drove about forty minutes southwest to Tulum where we saw some more Mayan ruins. The Tulum ruins are very picturesque, being right on the beautiful coastline, but we got there just before high noon with the crowds and the heat. The combination of just taking a guided tour the previous day and the wait for a guide contributed to our decision to just explore on our own. After the ruins and walking down the coast a bit, we ate at El Camelo at Annette's suggestion. Great food and definitely our most authentic dining experience on our trip! With happy stomachs, Katie and I explored the town and checked out some shops. Tomorrow we will make our way back to the airport and bring our short trip to a close.
